NBA basketball picks and previews 3/31/09
9 games are being played tonight and the most interesting is the game in the Northwest Division between Utah and Portland at the Rose Garden. Both are coming into the game with 2 straight wins under their belts, for Utah they were against New York and Phoenix (both at home) while for Portland they were against Memphis and Phoenix (again both at home). On Saturday Portland managed their best defensive performance for 4 years, giving up only 66 points against the Memphis Grizzlies, their best performance since March 12th 2005 when they allowed only 66 points again to the Grizzlies.
Utah lead the series between these two teams 2-1 with both of their wins at home 103-96 and 97-88. Portland’s one win in late January was much larger than those of Utah’s though, 122-108. Portland will be hoping Brandon Roy and co. will turn up to make sure of an important win, Roy’s been averaging 23 points a game while LaMarcus Aldridge has chipped in with 18 points a game.
This game’s very important for both teams, a win for Portland could see them up to 4th in the Conference while a Utah victory could see them cement their place around 4th seed. Tip-off is at 10pm ET.
