Seattle beats Angels in 12 innings 8/13/08
Friday, August 15th, 2008On Wednesday night, the Seattle Mariners (46-75) beat the Los Angeles Angels (75-44) 10-7 in 12 innings. Angels closer Francisco Rodriguez, who is creeping closer to the single season saves record, blew his fifth save of the season. Seattle’s Wladimir Balentien hit a three-run homer with two outs in the 12th after striking out four times to give Seattle the victory. In the Angels case, they’ve built up such a big lead in the AL West, currently at 15 games above the Rangers, that they can afford to lose games without thinking much about it. Roy Corcoran allowed one hit over three innings to get the win and snap Seattle’s five-game losing streak. Newly acquired Mark Teixeira had two homeruns in the game for the Angles in the losing effort.
Roy Corcoran (3-0) was given the win, and Justin Speier (1-5) was given the loss.
