Wild finish in Texas
Wednesday, July 30th, 2008The Seattle Mariners (40-66) faced the Texas Rangers (55-52) last night in a game that had many moments both sides would like to forget. Texas was up 9-3 going into the 6th inning but gave up 3 runs. They gave up 2 runs in the 7th and 2 runs in the 9th as well to eventually fall behind 10-9 going into the bottom half of the ninth inning. Rangers third basemen Ramón Vázquez had plenty to do with giving up the big lead. He accounted for 3 of the Rangers 5 errors. But Vázquez actually ended up being the savior of the game as he hit a two run double in the bottom of the ninth to give Texas an 11-10 victory over Seattle. Vazquez had this to say about the result of his 9th inning double: “It’s awesome. I was glad to do something to end the game. It would have been a tough one leaving this game if we would have lost.”
